The waters of Cape Cod are a resting places for many vessels that have crashed, wrecked or sunk off the shores.
According to the Cape Cod National Seashore, between Truro and Wellfleet alone, there have been more than 1,000 shipwrecks.
The Sparrowhawk was the first recorded shipwreck along the Cape's shores. In 1626 she ran aground at Orleans.
