In the Footsteps of
Thoreau
In the Footsteps of Thoreau, written by Adam Gamble is a superbly original guide book for hiking enthusiasts replete with historical texts dripped directly off the pen of Henry David Thoreau (1817-1862) himself.
Gamble's work is also directed toward those with a greater interest in simply visiting the vistas of Cape Cod without actually walking in the footsteps of the great American writer.
In doing so, it remains an entertaining and useful guide for all. Gamble's text guides you through 25 different hikes and features 55 roads, rivers, lighthouses, windmills and other historic Cape Cod treasures.
In the Footsteps of Thoreau is thoroughly researched, with easy to follow directions and abounds with illustrations of the wildlife and aquatic anomalies Thoreau encountered during his adventures, as well as his torical snapshots of the people and places the famous writer crossed paths with.
Gamble's efforts to create a highly original and absorbing walking guide for Cape Cod have paid off handsomely with In the Footsteps of Thoreau. A recommended read for all.
