Onset, MA is the Thermometer Capital of the World.
Richard Porter of Onset, MA is the curator of the world's largest collection of thermometers, which is housed in Porter's Thermometer Museum. He has gathered over 2,000 of these devices in every conceivable size and format - some are attached to advertising signs, some are old, some are new, some rare and some are commonplace.
The Museum is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records and Ripley's Believe It or Not. True to its motto "Always open, always free", the Thermometer Museum is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year (with advance notice).
