Toasting Cape
Cod
Truro Vineyards of Cape Cod is Cape Cod's first vinifera vineyard pioneering the art of maritime grape growing on this temperate peninsula. Cape Cod's warm ocean breezes, well drained sandy soils and extended growing season combine to produce grapes with intense flavor and lush varietal character.
The winemakers and owners of Truro Vineyards,
Kathy Gregrow and Judy Wimer, both hold degrees in plant science.
Once the crop is harvested and fermented, the wines are aged up to 18 months in oak barrels acquiring a smooth flavor. An award-winning Cabernet Franc is available along with Barrel Fermented Chardonnay, Cape Blush, Maritime Red and Vignoles.
A Truro landmark, the 19th century
wine cask towers over an 1836 Federal-style farmhouse which also offers
accommodations in a romantic setting just off Route 6 at Shore Road, Route 6A,
in Truro.
Visitors are treated to a tour through the barns and antique wine making displays. Wine tastings and live jazz concerts are featured throughout the summer and beautiful picnic grounds are available. For more information, call (508) 487-6200.
